People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: Jan. 12, 2018

ARIS Title Insurance Corporation, a member of Argo Group International Holdings Ltd., has appointed Mary Buschman president of ARIS Title Insurance Corporation. Buschman previously served as chief underwriting counseling for ARIS. 

Daniel Franzetti has been appointed COO of specialist insurer QBE North America. He continues his role as chief claims officer for QBE North America and will add to these responsibilities by overseeing all North American operations, systems, architecture, communications and branding. 

Lockton has appointed Anita Farmer marine department manager and team leader in New York City. Prior to joining Lockton, Farmer spent almost a decade at Gallagher. 

Roger H. Schmelzer, president of the National Conference of Insurance Guaranty Funds (NCIGF), has been selected as the North American representative to the Executive Committee of the International Forum of Insurance Guarantee Schemes (IFIGS). Schmelzer, who has led the NCIGF for 11 years, will be joined on the IFIGS Executive Committee by representatives from Greece, Kenya, Romania, Spain and Thailand. 

Mayer Brown announced that trial lawyer Robert Harrell has joined the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice as a partner in Houston. Previously, he was a partner with Norton Rose Fulbright in Houston where he led that firm’s financial institutions and insurance litigation practice in the U.S.

Nicole Lim has been promoted to Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer, Singapore, for AXIS Insurance. She joined AXIS in 2013 and previously held various underwriting roles within Allianz, Liberty and Aon Risk Services. 

Xceedance, a global provider of insurance consulting, managed services, technology and data sciences, has appointed Travis MacMillian chief business officer. Most recently, he served as the vice president of insurance at Genpact. 

Eric Micheals has been appointed chief underwriting officer in the U.S. for international specialist insurer Hiscox. He has been with Hiscox for eight years and was the lead underwriter in establishing Hiscox’s Direct and Partnerships division in the U.S.

Workers’ compensation specialist The MEMIC Group has promoted Adelin Vinas to the position of Claims Director of the Atlantic Region, which includes MEMIC’s Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey offices. She joined MEMIC in 2016 as a Regional Claim Manager. 

Paul VanDenBosch has been named President of Nationwide Private Client. VanDenBosch has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently as regional vice president for Nationwide’s Southwestern Regional Operations in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

New Day Underwriting Managers has promoted Stacy Burrows to senior accounting and underwriting support analyst. Before New Day, Stacy served as a senior business analyst and supervisor in claims information services for NJ Manufacturers Insurance Group.

Lizah Carey has been appointed business insurance development specialist for Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance’s (SIAA) Business Insurance Advantage program. Carey comes from an independent agency in Middletown, Connecticut, where she worked as an operations manager and licensed P&C producer. 

Colliers International | West Michigan has appointed Kyle Sischo managing director of Real Estate Management Services. Prior to joining Colliers, Sischo was the executive vice president of a local commercial investment company

Bryan Parker has been appointed vice president of sales for IDP, an IT services and SaaS core solutions provider for the property & casualty insurance segment. Previously, Parker held a variety of senior roles at Pitney Bowes Software’s Insurance Practice and SAP, among others.

JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, has appointed Deborah S. Ballati to its panel where she will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master in a variety of disputes including Business/Commercial, Construction, Engineering, Government/Public Agency and Insurance. Ballati has been an attorney for more than 42 years dealing in civil and commercial matters and developed an expertise in construction and insurance coverage disputes.

Ian V. Muress has joined Sedgwick as CEO of its growing international division. He most recently served as CEO of international operations for a large global adjusting firm. 

Aspen Insurance has appointed Josh Ladeau Global Head of Tech E&O and Cyber. He joined Aspen Insurance in June 2016 and has more than 12 years of industry experience.
